On Oct 9th, the Mayor London Breed recognized Bindlestiff Studio with this certificate of honor at the city's Filipino American History Month Celebration. While accepting the certificate, our managing director noted the diverse ways Bindlestiff acts as an anchor in the community. Beyond top notch theater productions, we host events for community groups, offer programs to SOMA youth and elders, and participate in neighborhood funding decisions. Thank you Mayor Breed for recognizing the vital role we play in our community!
Thanks as well to the event organizers, Filipino American Arts Exposition. And congrats to our fellow honorees, United Playaz (celebrating their 25th anniversary) and the 50th Anniversary of the student strikes at SFSU to establish the College of Ethnic Studies.

Our mainstage production of TAGALOG 2019 kicks off on Thursday, Oct 17th, with our Pay-What-You-Can Community Preview.
On Friday, Oct 18th, we will host our Opening Night Reception immediately following the performance.
In TAGALOG 2019, three one-act plays, written and performed in Tagalog with live English translation creatively woven throughout the evening, capture the pulse of day-to-day life for Pilipinos, economically and politically. And yet, they are still haunting and triumphant. The show pulses with universally human experiences of new love, friendships formed from struggle, and our curiosity/fear of the cosmos. Three new playwrights from the prestigious Virgin Labfest of the Cultural Center of the Philippines will make their U.S. debut in the heart of the SOMA Pilipinas Cultural District.
