Seeking Storytellers to be Puppeteers & Makers for Bindlestiff's First-Ever Children's Show in Spring 2020!
Sponsored by a CA Arts Council Grant, Bindlestiff Artist-in-Residence Ramon Abad is seeking to fill 4-6 puppeteer roles for THREE once-a-month Saturday afternoon children's shows at Bindlestiff Studio in January-March 2020 that he will direct.
Also seeking makers of all skills needed to help make puppets.
Small stipend available for puppeteers & makers if you make the cut.
Volunteer opportunities available.
Development & Rehearsals starting end of October/November.

The Ghost Within: An Introduction to Writing Horror Plays
Facilitated by Christina Ying
Students will engage in a 3-week intensive writing workshop, where they will learn the fundamental elements of creating a horror stage play. Students will discover how core concepts of character, structure, plot, theme, and tone interact with the horror genre. The workshop will also explore the integration of American and Filipino cultural folklore into the horror genre. Students are expected to complete a 10-page one act that will be read on stage.

Bindlestiff Studio proudly presents our Mainstage production of TAGALOG 2019, a collection of one-act plays written and performed in the national language of the Philippines, with live English translation creatively woven throughout the evening. In its third year, Tagalog 2019 will bring to life stories deeply specific in its language and culture and yet universal in our human experiences of new love, friendships formed from struggle, and fears of alien abduction. Three new playwrights from the prestigious Virgin Labfest of the Cultural Center of the Philippines will make their U.S. debut in the heart of the SOMA Pilipinas Cultural District.
