END OF THE YEAR GATHERING
DECEMBER 20th @5pm PST
What a year 2020 has been! We had to use the word "pivot" a million times, "bandwidth" is no longer just a figurative measure of our capacity, but on a serious note, we all had to confront what it really meant to care for ourselves, our community, and the world.
For our End of the Year Gathering, we want to shine a light on what kept the Bindlestiff light glowing during the darkest times; our community of artists and our supporters. All are welcome, come celebrate with us!
It will be a night of music, performances, and laughter as we celebrate all the wonderful people that kept 2020 a hopeful and creative year.
AGASAN Acts of Self Preservation: Online Workshops
December 18th and 19th
US Premier of Alunsina (Film Screening)
Q&A with Filmmaker Kiri Dalena
December 10th @ 6pm PST
Alunsina, filmmaker Kiri Dalena explores the potentials and limits of engagement within a community facing trauma. Working closely with human rights organizations, she finds herself documenting the struggles of children and families in an urban settlement severely affected by the government’s declaration of war against drugs. An ideology that has led to thousands of extrajudicial killings of suspected drug users, resulting in parental deaths and broken families. Here, she engages with a family whose child has resorted to drawing pictures to cope with such tragedy, and again confront the complexities in communicating the violence they’ve witnessed.
