Course description:
This program is designed to connect the mind, body and spirit to form an impenetrable force of self-confidence and pure bad-assery. The importance of exercising this trifecta will result in a rapid transformation of self-worth, self-image and self-respect. All these skills are transferable for use in theatre, but must be executed with the utmost respect and precision in what we call “stage combat”. It is my honor to help you in your quest to bring out the warrior in all of us.
About the facilitator:
Raisa Donato has been teaching Stage Combat since 2007, working primarily with youth in underserved communities in the Los Angeles area with the non-profit organization, Passado Action Theatre. She's experienced in various forms of Martial Arts, utilizing Sandodai Ryu Karate and Zen Kobudo as her foundation. She has taught stage combat to actors and choreographed fight sequences for Bindlestiff shows in Tagalog, Stories High, The Geek Show, and Forbidden Futures. Her next venture is starring in a sci-fi independent feature, The Homecoming War, Episode II: The Artifact by Frank B. Chavez III.
