About the course:

The dark alley, the smoke filled jazz joint, a cheated lover at the edge of a pier and the cloaked figure...The Noirshop are six workshops focusing on the elements, dialogue and style of the noir genre for theater. Emphasis will be on the short play, to help the writers throw the audience into a scene where they should not be witness to...

About the facilitator:

Ed Mabasa has written over a dozen short plays for Bindlestiff (noir, occult, sci-fi). He is a long time student of the Stories High workshop (many under the guidance of Christina Ying) and in 2019 was given the opportunity to teach the Stories High workshop with the help of Mary Grace Burns (MGB). Since it was the noir genre that inspired his first 3 plays, he hopes to give participants of the Noirshop a cliff to dive off to stylize their own noir short play for theater. He is also a diabetic, reads books on the Mongolian empire, and Bindlestiff’s default House Manager and Stage Manager.
