Granny Cart Gangstas and Bindlestiff Studio presents…

PWET

Producers Message

Thank you for bringing your beautiful PWET in to our show. We welcome you!

To be quite honest, creating comedy in this day and age is very hard. But we are here together and we are grateful to be in community with you, wherever your PWET has been, it’s here tonight.

10 years ago marks the first time we performed in the Bindlestiff stage as Granny Cart Gangstas. Over the years we’ve made soooo many sketches, and we have produced 7 full productions prior to the pandemic. Tonight is the first time since 2019 that we are back on stage.

We are so grateful to all the people and organizations that have supported us along the way. We could not have made it to 10 years without the support of so many people.

PWET is dedicated to one of GCG’s fan and shero, Joyce Juan Manalo. We hope we are making you laugh and talk shit back to us! To learn more about her life and artistry, and to support her legacy fund go to joycejuanmanalo.com

Lynie Abadilla
Lynie Abadilla (she/her) is a performer and storyteller. Her comedy style comes from random thoughts, peculiarities, heartbreak, inside jokes, those embarrassing/awkward moments that replay in your mind years later, and 4-hour drive-way conversations that flow into uncontrollable fits of laughter that make you pee/cry a little. Abadilla last appeared on stage as Bethany in Jeffrey Lo’s BALIKBAYAN BOX (TheatreFIRST) and as Rose, Batibat, and Calag in THE ACT OF CARE (Chikahan Company).

Special Message for YOU: As I ponder on how each of us grannies evolved and have gone through various eras, I hope that our comedy brought you a moment of joy, happiness, laughter, and connection (even moments of, What the f*ck was that? are always special). Thank you for laughing with us for all these years!!!! ALSO....I LOVE YOU GCG! WE GOT THIS!

Andrea Almario
OG GCG,

Mama of 2,

Writer of several sketches and Stalker Song from tonight’s line up.

Vegas Allergy represent!

Aureen Almario
When I think about the 10 year anniversary and what this means to me, flashbacks of memories of sketches that didn’t hit, failed video shoot attempts, the brainstorm sessions, sweaty backstage quick changes, making props last minute. The late night panic attacks before opening night. All of it was always worth it because I get to spend it with my favorite people. Folks that make me laugh from the depths of my soul. It’s these unglamorous parts that I cherish.

Shout out to my #1 life cheerleader, my mama. My sister, Drea, who was my first comedy bestie. Ava—my comedy partner in crime. Julie, who has really held this PWET production down.

There’s some invisible dwendes that I would like to acknowledge that keep our shows flowing and going behind the scenes. My deepest gratitude to Oliver, Ed, Darius, Conrad, Ray. To my partner, Dave Ragaza, who’s commitment to each GCG show has elevated our production 100%. He’s co-written sketches with me, edited videos, and this year went above and beyond with his lighting design.

We couldn’t gotten this far without the help of Joyce Juan Manalo, who made sure we had space to rehearse. We love you and miss you Joyce!

Felicia Chanco
When I first joined the troupe in January 2018, I would not have believed I’d be writing in the Digital Program for our 10 Year Anniversary Show, PWET: Pair Warning Extreme Tightness.

Using the lens of accounting for the actions I took to make my world a safe space to continue my self agency - I’m able to conceive the depth of work and decisions; and in turn, have gratitude of where I am now. Every experience is colorful - hot / cold; sticky / slippery; expressive / conformist.

Each slash representing a continuum building on themselves - like a radial pigmented disk warping over time as you grow chronologically distant.

The Character of Scammer 1 is a spirit fracture of a Felicia Isya that was only valued when playing a role, wearing a costume in real life “plays.” An exploration of the Glass Stanchion Rope - the edge of being IN alongside the frustrations of being BOUNCED. The Filipino folk dance "Silong Sa Ganding"* is selected from the array of dances Felicia learned in the 562 of Southern California at the Filipino Cultural School. She returned to FCS as a Dance Teacher and to perform with the FCS Troupe.

I Belong Here, written by ISYA, allowed her to acknowledge the blockages that were at times stifling and to embrace it— alchemizing Grace in moving forward.

*Ask for a demo of the basic forms and steps for Silong Sa Ganding after the Show

Dianne Chui
Bay born, Daly City raised, Seattle refined, and now, Vegas thriving - D can’t help but keep returning to the magnetic charms of Bindlestiff Studio. From puppeteering in 1996’s “Babae,” Ate Lorna’s one woman show, to co-writing/producing 2023’s “Angry Allergies” rap for PWET with Vegas Funky Fresh Andrea Almario, thousands of miles can’t stop the radically bastos energy from flowing.

10 years of Granny Cart Gangstas - What a life-changing, rites of passage crossing, raw explosion of emotions, and multi-dimensional cathartic experience! The waters of coochie soup and fresh titty milk flights will forever bless our creative bond and I wish all my pwets another 10 years of growing, laughing, and playing together #Pwet4Life

Alexis Dayers
Alexis has been part of the Bindlestiff fam since 2006 but her heart, soul and PWET belongs to GCG. When she's not pushing vanity aside for complete BASTOS commitment, she can be found Momming around Daly City and selling her soul to Tech to keep her family alive and eating in the Bay!

Tatiana X. Dayers
Tatiana is so proud to be part of GCG and proud of her fellow Grannies for being bastos and making people laugh for 10 years. She is so grateful for GCG for providing a space to write weird shit and making it come to life. She is super duper grateful for GCG for making space for her pwet in this show even though she is a hella, tired, busy mom of 2 amazingly adorable daughters. Cheers to 10 years Grannies!

nic feliciano
nic feliciano is a writer, actor, performer, and cook born in manila based in berkeley, ca. when she’s not cooking in the streets with Sup Streetfood, you can find her writing short plays and sketches inspired by the filipino diaspora, acting at Bindlestiff Studios, and being a proud member of Granny Cart Gangstas. nic would like to dedicate this performance to the liberation of palestine and all oppressed people around the world. from palestine to the philippines, stop the us war machine!

Jud Ferrer
Jud Ferrer is a youth developer and creative based out of the Tenderloin. Jud has been rocking the undercover Grannie life since day one and is super thankful to hop on stage with everyone. Crazy we've doing this for 10 years. Shout out to Au, Julie, & Ava for holding it down so we can all wild out. Shout out to Tone for being hella Tone. Last seen rocking it with QUEER as FUCK, Jud is looking forward to the upcoming downtime then going hella hard for Golda Sargento's "DARKHEART" a concert narrative slated for production May 2024 that will blow your fucking mind!

Kathlyn C. Ibazeta
Kathlyn is very excited for her second time acting in a Granny Cart production! She wants to thank all the grannies for letting her be her true self, because Kathlyn actually is a lola trapped inside a little boy’s body. She also thanks her sweet asawa, Edu, and their fluffy bear cat, Sylvie, for all the emotional support cuddles. When she's not acting, Kathlyn loves to paint, knit, bake and meow, which is probably why most people call her Kat.

Julie Kuwabara
PWET is dedicated to my Dad, Joe Kuwabara. Julie Kuwabara (she/her) is an actor, comedy sketch writer/performer, and cultural strategist. She has been a member of Granny Cart Gangstas since 2014. Her work as a writer and performer has been featured at SF SketchFest, UCB Filpino AF (LA), Femprovisor (Sacramento), Femmefest (SF), and Killing My Lobster. She received the 2021 KML New Voices in Comedy Writing Fellowship. As an actor she has partnered with Yale Repertory, San Francisco Playhouse, Shotgun Players, Cutting Ball, Central Works, Magic Theatre and Bindlestiff Studio Through her work as an artist and cultural strategist she focuses on centering bipoc artists and communities in creating a free, just, equitable world. Hugs to her husband (Chuck #1 Fan Lacson) family and friends for all their love and willingness to support all the weirdness. Keep up with Julie on Instagram @jularie and @grannycartgangstas

Lindsay Ordesta (LO)
LO holds down Bindlestiff in so many ways: a back stage ninja warrior, singer extraordinaire, producer of many shows, over all support that keeps Bindlestiff going. This is her first time on stage with Granny Cart Gangstas and we are so happy that she gets to share her good vibes with us.

Thúy Trần
Thúy is going full-blown diarrhea for this 10-year anniversary show. Being a part of GCG has given her the biggest orgasm of her life and she is very grateful for this community of badass hoes. Shout out to the producers, production team, and the grannies for all of their work in putting on this show in the midst of busy lives. I see you and I’m so appreciative that you’ve let this perv join the group.

Aura San Miguel
Aura San Miguel a.k.a @stackbeezy, a girl from Hayward through and through, has been a Bindlestiff artist and volunteer since 2006. She joined Granny Cart Gangstas in 2017 and hasn’t stopped laughing ever since.

At this black box theater on 6th Street she has held various roles as an actor, director, producer, social media strategist, photo ninja, chismosa and cannabis enthusiast.

When she’s not at Bindlestiff you can find her gallivanting all over the Bay - from taco trucks, boba spots, Filipino events, art shows, concerts, etc.

Much love to my family and friends who’ve supported my crazy ass shenanigans, my fellow GCG crew (to Vogue and beyond), the Leos, my beezies, DOX, and to my love, thank you for being the most supportive bb. Scoops + Bunz forever!

And lastly to my Bindlestiff community, my world wouldn’t be the same without you. Thank you for providing a space to grow, perform and play on stage. Never give up!

RIP Joyce Juan-Manalo. This show is dedicated to you!

Tonilyn A. Sideco
Tone is hella excited to be back home, butch & bastos with their beezies Granny Cart Gangstas!!! My how we’ve grown since that first cauldron collab convo at Lucky Penny 12 years ago! I wouldn’t want to work through my bowl cut trauma with anybody else! Blessings on blessings, fam! 😏

Ava Tong
Can't believe something Aureen and I started over 10 years ago would last this long. I'm extremely grateful for finding folks on the same comedic wavelength as I am and who are down to get gross, nasty, ridiculous and absurd with me. Been into sketch comedy since I was like 5 years old, watching the pervy Benny Hill with my grandpa. Now you know where my sense of humor came from. Shout out the the original GCG folks, Andrea Almario, Aureen Almario, Judith Ferrer and Tonilyn Sideco for being down & dirty from the very beginning in 2011. To all those who came after, you have elevated and immortalized us, bringing your funny, your tsismis, your crazy, your dirty and your insanity. Thank you and I fuckin love you all!
