The Party
Bindlestiff Studio presents a short online program for kids of all ages hosted by Fil Am puppeteer Ramon Abad. See some silly fun with some silly puppets and a lil’ puppet-making workshop that kids can follow along at home!
The highlight of the show will be the premiere of the puppet video short written & directed by Ramon called “The Party” which celebrates the Filipino American influence on hip hop music & dance. “The Party”, tells a short story about a day in the life of a lil’ crew of Fil Am puppet kids in Daly City who love music and dance! Oliver Wang’s seminal book “Legions of Boom” about the Bay Area history of young Pinays & Pinoys in the mobile DJ scene is a main inspiration for the project.
Sponsored by the San Francisco Arts Commission, the project was initially conceived as a pre-Covid stage show for audiences of kids & their families at Bindlestiff Studio. Now adapted as a video for an online presentation, the short was (mostly) produced & shot on location at Balay Kreative’s artist studio on Mission and 5th St. in SOMA Pilipinas San Francisco.
The program will last approximately 40 minutes and will be streaming for FREE on Bindlestiff’s Twitch channel
FREE Admission but in lieu of purchasing tickets, please consider donating to Bindlestiff Studio and to these great organizations below that support Fil Am youth in the Bay Area:
